Each Vu Lan season is a time to turn our thoughts towards family, our parents, and the words of love that can sometimes be difficult to say out loud.
With the hope of creating a space where those feelings could be expressed in a simple and sincere way, Lotus Hospitality Da Nang (Lotus Da Nang) hosted the Vu Lan Workshop “A Lotus Petal, a Thousand Words of Love” for customers across our ecosystem, including Tiktak Coworking Space, Flexi Hotel & Apartment and Diamond Time Complex.
Held on the afternoon of 26 August 2026 at the open space on Level 3 of Diamond Time Complex, the workshop brought people together through familiar activities: making paper lotuses by hand, writing cards for parents, enjoying Vietnamese tea and treats, and sharing stories about family.
Rather than creating an elaborate programme, the workshop focused on simple, meaningful experiences, with paper lotuses as the central theme throughout the afternoon.
When people think of Vu Lan, many are familiar with “Bông hồng cài áo”, the tradition of wearing a rose as a reminder of one’s parents and the importance of cherishing family bonds.
Beginning with the same values of love and gratitude for family, the Vu Lan Workshop “A Lotus Petal, a Thousand Words of Love” chose a different way to express them: creating pink paper lotuses by hand.

Pink lotuses and paper were the key visual elements throughout Vu Lan Workshop 2026
The lotus is a familiar symbol in Vietnamese culture, associated with purity and traditional values passed down through generations. It also creates a natural connection with the name Lotus Da Nang and the spirit of community shared across our ecosystem.
As part of the hands-on activity, each paper lotus also carried the care and creativity of its maker. No special craft skills or previous experience were needed. Everyone could take their time to create a handmade gift for someone they love.

Alongside the paper lotuses were small cards for guests to write messages to their parents and loved ones. It could be a wish for good health, a simple thank-you for all their parents have done, or feelings that had always been there but were not always easy to put into words.
Each creation took on its own shape, while every card carried a different message. Together, they reflected the sincere and sincere emotions of each participant.

Alongside lotus making and card writing, guests could enjoy Vietnamese tea and treats while chatting with one another. A Vu Lan-themed photo corner was also prepared, giving everyone a place to capture a memory with the lotuses they had just created.
What made the Vu Lan Workshop “A Lotus Petal, a Thousand Words of Love” special was not only the paper lotus activity, but also the people who joined it.
Participants included customers working at Tiktak Coworking Space, guests staying at Flexi Hotel & Apartment, and members of the wider Lotus Da Nang customer community.

A lively atmosphere with enthusiastic participation from our customer community
For customers at Tiktak Coworking Space, the workshop offered a welcome change from the usual rhythm of the working day.
Stepping away from laptops, meetings and work schedules, everyone gathered around paper, scissors, handmade lotuses and small cards. People who often met in a work setting had another opportunity to talk and connect over something more personal.
For guests staying at Flexi Hotel & Apartment, especially our international guests, the Vu Lan Workshop offered a cultural experience during their time in Da Nang.
Beyond taking part in a craft activity, international guests had the chance to learn about Vu Lan, the Vietnamese value of filial gratitude, and to express appreciation for their own parents, families and loved ones in their own way.
Because despite differences in language or where we come from, love for family is something we can all share.

Guests of different ages and from different countries enjoying the workshop together
Some carefully adjusted each lotus petal until it looked just right. Some were excited to take photos of their first finished piece. Others spent a little longer with their cards, thinking about exactly what they wanted to write.
Around a table of tea and treats, surrounded by paper and small conversations, people with different routines and schedules had the chance to sit together and share a meaningful afternoon.
Throughout the workshop, the Lotus Da Nang team was there to support guests through each activity, from guiding them through lotus making and card writing to joining conversations and sharing little stories about the Vu Lan season.
